Review de The Veil, álbum debut de Ancient Thrones

El grupo anteriormente conocido como Abysseral Throne cambió su nombre a Ancient Thrones el pasado 2018 y en este año han lanzado su primer LP, titulado The Veil, bajo el sello de Asher Media.

En este álbum conceptual de 10 canciones de cerca de una hora de duración hablan del enfrentarse a la tragedia, la mortalidad y la permanencia de las acciones, todo ello envuelto en un ambiente oscuro con su blackened death.

El disco comienza con una intro, Transient, en el que dan inicio a ese viaje para luego estallar con The Sight of Oblivion, donde se aprecian los ritmos realmente rápidos, duros y cargados de una atmósfera inquietante como ellos definen, contando como no se encuentra un camino definido y sin vida. El siguiente corte, The Millionth Grave, habla por sí solo: el dilema de qué hay después de la muerte, si hay soledad y oscuridad al no haber lugar para estar con los dioses. Con The Soul to Flesh narran si hay algua manera para poder vovler a tener una oportunidad pese a todas las acciones cometidas, mientras el sonido del disco no deja de ser constantemente tenebroso.

Llegando a la mitad del disco encontramos al que le da nombre al propio disco, Viduus (The Veil), siendo este el de mayor duración de todos. En esta ocasión vemos el enfrentamiento de ver si realmente se puede llegar a tener esa segunda oportunidad tras la muerte para poder aportar algo de luz tras todos los actos cometidos. En The River of Rain se estará ante un complicado camino para ver cuál es el destino final del alma condenada. Casi llegando al final, Divided/Dissolve es el momento en el que se mira al espejo del pasado para ver todas las acciones cometidas para tomar la decisión definitiva de cuál va a ser el último paso, donde llegamos al último tema del disco, The Infinite Eyes, en el que la decisión de volver le hará tomar un camino diferente al recorrido anteriormente.

Este disco narra una historia filosófica bastante antigua pero que nunca deja de ser interesante de escuchar, ya que puede ser contada de muchas maneras y que, con el toque oscuro de este grupo canadiense, puede ser muy recomendable para los fans del metal extremo, en especial para fans de grupos como Revocation o Skeletonwitch.

The group previously known as Abysseral Throne changed its name to Ancient Thrones last 2018 and in this year they have released their first LP, titled The Veil, under the label of Asher Media.

In this concept album of 10 songs of about an hour of duration they talk about facing tragedy, mortality and the permanence of actions, all wrapped in a dark atmosphere with their blackened death.

The album begins with an intro, Transient, in which they start that journey and then explode with The Sight of Oblivion, where we can appreciate the really fast, hard and charged rhythms of a disturbing atmosphere as they define, counting as not finding a definite and lifeless path. The next song, The Millionth Grave, speaks for itself: the dilemma of what there is after death, whether there is loneliness and darkness because there is no place to be with the gods. With The Soul to Flesh they narrate if there is any way to be able to have a chance in spite of all the actions committed, while the sound of the album is constantly scary.

Coming to the middle of the album we find the one that gives name to the album itself, Viduus (The Veil), being this the one of greatest duration of all. On this occasion we see the confrontation of seeing if we can really get to have that second opportunity after death to be able to bring some light after all the acts committed. In The River of Rain you will be facing a complicated road to see what the final destination of the doomed soul is. Almost at the end, Divided/Dissolve is the moment when you look at the mirror of the past to see all the actions committed to make the final decision of what will be the last step, where we get to the last track of the album, The Infinite Eyes, in which the decision to return will make you take a different path than the previous one.

This album tells a philosophical story quite old but never ceases to be interesting to hear, as it can be told in many ways and that, with the dark touch of this Canadian band, can be highly recommended to fans of extreme metal, especially for fans of bands like Revocation or Skeletonwitch.
