Reseña – review: The Advent Equation “Remnants Of Oblivion”

The Advent Equation es una banda de metal progresivo oriunda de Monterrey (México), y nos vienen a presentar su segundo trabajo titulado “Remnants Of Oblivion” puesto a la venta el 4 de Diciembre del 2020 en todas las plataformas digitales y en formato físico a través de Concreto Record en México y Latinoamerica. El disco ha sido mezclado y masterizado en Psicofonia Estudio por Charles A. Leal y presentado visualmente por Travis Smith (Nevermore, Death). El concepto que se quiere trasmitir en el disco es que “la vida proviene de las estrellas”.

Musicalmente, tengo que decir que la banda me recuerda a otros grupos como Opeht, Flowers Kings o Kamelot, incluso en las partes melódicas la voz de Margil me recuerda a Roy Khan. Desgranando el disco, este comienza con la Instrumental “Ignition” con un gran trabajo de teclados y guitarras, con momentos atmosféricos y de mucha fuerza. En el tema “Patters of a Spiraling Reality” me recuerda a Kamelot, tema a medio tiempo, con buenos coros y estribillo. El siguiente “Remnants Of Oblivion” inicia la canción con ese toque bucólico que me recuerda a Opeth, intercalando voz grave/gutural con voz melódica. “An Eternal Moment” me recordó totalmente a Flowers Kings en su último disco, piano clásico con seguimiento de guitarra y teclados psicodélicos y una pequeña parcela para darle protagonismo al bajo. En el tema “Facing the Absolute”, tema más animado, buenos cambios de ritmo y buenos coros. “Balance Trough Extinction” sigue la estela de su antecesora, buen tema. A continuación tenemos los temas “The Creation part I: Hypnos” y “The Creation Part II: Thanatos” son para mí la única pega, aunque son 2 temas, enlazan como un tema solo que se convierte en un tema de 11 minutos en los que se hace muy largo, muy predecible. 

Finalmente quiero decir que estamos ante un muy buen disco de metal progresivo, donde el trabajo y la calidad Instrumental de todos los componentes en este disco es excelso. Muy recomendado para los amantes del metal progresivo. Un saludo.

Musically, I have to say that the band reminds me of other groups like Opeht, Flowers Kings or Kamelot, even in the melodic parts Margil’s voice reminds me of Roy Khan. Unraveling the album, it begins with the Instrumental “Ignition” with a great work of keyboards and guitars, with atmospheric and powerful moments. On the song “Patters of a Spiraling Reality” it reminds me of Kamelot, a half-time song, with good choruses and chorus. The next “Remnants Of Oblivion” starts the song with that bucolic touch that reminds me of Opeth, interspersing a deep / guttural voice with a melodic voice. “An Eternal Moment” totally reminded me of Flowers Kings on their latest album, classical piano with a guitar follow-up and psychedelic keyboards and a small plot to give prominence to the bass. On the song “Facing the Absolute”, more lively song, good rhythm changes and good choruses. “Balance Trough Extinction” follows in the wake of its predecessor, good track. Next we have the songs “The Creation part I: Hypnos” and “The Creation Part II: Thanatos” are for me the only downside, although they are 2 songs, they link as a single song that becomes an 11-minute song in the that gets very long, very predictable.

Finally I want to say that this is a very good progressive metal album, where the work and Instrumental quality of all the components on this album is excellent. Highly recommended for progressive metal lovers. A greeting
